Stroke Rehabilitation

Worldwide, cerebrovascular accidents (stroke) are the second leading cause of death and the third leading cause of disability. Stroke, the sudden death of some brain cells due to lack of oxygen when the blood flow to the brain is lost by blockage or rupture of an artery to the brain, is also a leading cause of dementia and depression. Stroke has already reached epidemic proportions. Globally 1 in 4 adults over the age of 25 will have a stroke in their lifetime. 13.7 million people worldwide will have their first stroke on an average and 5.5 million among them will die as a result. Current trends suggest that the number of annual deaths will climb to 6.7 million annually without appropriate action. The two major types of Stroke are Haemorrhagic and Ischemic stroke.
