Psoriasis or Sidhma Kushta

Psoriasis is a chronic autoimmune condition that causes inflammation in the skin. The disease is characterized by red and scaly patches on the skin, associated with itching, burning, and pain. This condition appears in cycles with episodes of flare-ups, followed by subsiding for a while. The exact cause of psoriasis is unknown, but it is believed to be related to an overactive immune system. There is no cure for psoriasis or Sidhma Kushta disease, but various treatments can help manage the symptoms. Psoriasis Treatment in Ayurveda

Ayurveda considers Psoriasis a manifestation resultant from the imbalance of the body's fundamental energies or Tridoshas. The symptoms are triggered by the presence of toxins in blood, chronic stress and poor dietary habits. Ayurvedic treatments aim to restore the balance of these doshas and reduce the underlying inflammation associated with Psoriasis. Ayurveda recommends the following interventions in the management of Psoriasis.

Internal Medications :

Ayurvedic practitioners may prescribe various preparations containing herbs like turmeric, neem, and aloe vera to help reduce symptoms of Psoriasis.

Panchakarma therapy :

Detoxification with therapeutic emesis, purgation & medicated enemas help to cleanse the body and improve overall health and well-being.

Diet & Lifestyle Regulation:

A diet that includes anti-inflammatory foods like fresh vegetables and fruits, and avoids triggers such as gluten, dairy, and alcohol. These factors will help manage the episodes of a flare-up in Psoriasis

Stress Management :

Ayurveda recognizes the role of stress in triggering and worsening the symptoms of Psoriasis. Therefore there is a great emphasis laid on stress management techniques, such as yoga and meditation, to improve overall health and reduce symptoms.

It's important to note that Ayurvedic remedies should be used under the guidance of a qualified practitioner and in conjunction with conventional medical treatments, as some Ayurvedic remedies may interact with other medications or have side effects.
