Visha Chikitsa

 

Visha Chikitsa is an ancient Indian method of toxin elimination that has been used for centuries in Ayurvedic medicine. The word "visha" refers to toxins, poisons, or harmful substances that can accumulate in the body due to various reasons such as environmental pollution, poor dietary habits, and stress. Visha Chikitsa aims to eliminate these toxins from the body to promote overall health and well-being.

Visha Chikitsa involves identifying the type of poison, its source, the extent of toxicity, and then administering specific herbs, medicines, or procedures to remove the toxins from the body and restore health.In addition to treating acute cases of poisoning, Visha Chikitsa also involves preventive measures to minimize the risk of poisoning.

Treatment Methods of Visha Chikitsa

Various treatment methods are used in Visha Chikitsa to eliminate toxins from the body. These methods include:

Panchakarma: Panchakarma is a comprehensive detoxification process that involves five different therapies - Vamana (therapeutic vomiting), Virechana (therapeutic purgation), Basti (medicated enema), Nasya (nasal administration of medicated oils), and Raktamokshana (bloodletting). This therapy is highly effective in eliminating toxins from the body and restoring the natural balance of the doshas.
  2. Abhyanga: Abhyanga is a type of massage therapy that involves the application of warm medicated oils to the body. The oils used in this therapy are selected based on the individual's dosha type and specific health concerns.   3. Herbal Remedies: Ayurvedic herbs are highly effective in eliminating toxins from the body. These herbs have powerful detoxifying properties and are used in various forms such as powders, capsules, and decoctions. Some of the commonly used herbs in Visha Chikitsa include Triphala, Guggulu, Neem, and Ashwagandha.
